The It’s possible show with the ever quotable and inspirational Marlon Parker and the Rlabs radio team. “Just because it doesn’t happen based on your timing, doesn’t mean that you should give up on your dreams or aspirations.”- Marlon Parker
The three things Marlon believes you need to do to declare it possible.
You first need to change your mental model. Marlon remarks that to change your mental model you need to change the way you view the world. Creating your future possibilities and not from your past and circumstances. We become very restrained by what happened in our past and in our present situation. Changing your mental model leads to changing your perception. The shift in your perception will give you the right direction.
Marlon recalls his time at his first job pushing trolleys at the airport. He recollects about himself and the people around him believing that flying around the world was not for him because of where he comes from. Marlon mentions that once you start to believe what was said about you, doubt begins to creep into your thoughts. Making you believe that it might not be for you. Once he came to the realization that it does not matter about his past or situation, his mental model changed and everything changed for him.
The second thing you need to do is,you have to act on your dreams or else life acts on you. Marlon poses the question to everyone about whether you actually work on your dream. As everyone has dreams but also struggles to execute on things that will push you toward your dreams. Marlon mentions becoming complacent allows life to get the better of you.
The third thing, Non-affirming relationships can hurt you and break you. Marlon remarks that we should not let other people deter us from our dreams or aspirations. “ The fact that you have dreamt it, means you are destined to achieve it.”
Yanelisa poses the question of “How do we keep the momentum of hope alive?” referring back to the Rlabs year theme of momentum.
Marlon's response to the question was that hope can be seen in a lot of different things, for example small things like waking up in the morning to experience new things and having the opportunity to take on new challenges. He also mentions having an attitude of gratitude for even the little things allows for to keep the momentum of hope alive.
